Scooters4Hooters Legacy Ride

Scooters4Hooters™ began as a legacy scooter ride through Orlando, in support of Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation™ in 2007. Libby's Legacy™ was started in honor of Libby Maynard, by her daughter Robin, after losing her mother to Stage IV Breast Cancer. All proceeds from the annual ride and other events go to Libby's Legacy™.

The mission of Libby's Legacy™ is to grant wishes, create memories and assign patient advocates for Stage IV Breast Cancer patients battling this disease and help them with the hardships associated with health related job loss. LLBCF also provides free mammograms to underinsured, high risk women. Scooters4Hooters™ was created to be a fun and unique way to support this dream.

S4H 2009

In 2009, our 3rd Scooters4Hooters grew in size again: 147 riders, and the event raised just over $50,000, helping us give away 2 more Alaskan trips to stage IV breast cancer patients and enabled us to give away over a hundred free mammograms and breast health services in the past year. S4H was again hosted at Wall St Plaza. At noon, the party got started with DJ Bootylicious, and when riders returned the live music continued all day and into the night by Painted Ladies, Jender, Melissa Crispo, Amy Steinberg, and Still North. We were also treated to the spontaneous rhymes of Dr. Geek and on-site speed-painting by Tony Trotti. Silent Auction and raffles gained LLBCF more funds in which to provide our amazing free services to women in the Central Florida area. We raffled off one 49cc Genuine Buddy scooter and auctioned two more! In 2009 S4H also featured a Survivor Lounge. All cancer survivors are VIP’s at S4H each year and now they have a swank place to relax and hang out and be pampered at our event. They had chair massage, free food + beverages, and special attention to help them feel supported.

S4H 2008

At S4H 2008, just over 100 scooters (and a few motorcycles!) took part in the 22+ mile, motorcycle police escorted ride through Central Florida, taking off and ending at Wall St Plaza in downtown Orlando. Over a thousand party goers came to honor and celebrate breast cancer patients. We gave away our first trips to stage IV breast cancer patients and their families, sending one family to Alaska and another to the Bahamas, to create memories with their loved ones. We raffled off a Genuine Buddy Scooter, and again live-auctioned a Vespa, as well as many items such as art and sports memorabilia. Along with raffle ticket sales for various prizes as well as silent auctions, participants in S4H 2008 helped us raise nearly $53,000 for Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation.

Many musicians generously donated their time and talent and helped make this a rocking good time! The musicians from S4H 2008 included: Nora Ricci, John Gallagher's Orange Blossom Trails, Gaspard and the Grain, Melissa Crispo, Shak Nasti and Greg Emya. We are grateful for all their support and talent!

S4H 2007

At our first Scooters4Hooters™ Legacy Ride, approximately 55 scooters & 75 riders took part in the 22 mile ride through old Orlando and Winter Park, taking off from 903 Mills Market and ending at the Orlando Brewing Company. The party celebrating and honoring breast cancer patients was a huge success, with divergent groups gathered to eat, drink and dance to great bands. We raffled off a Schwinn Collegiate Scooter, and live-auctioned a "Gator" scooter. We also raffled off dozens of prizes from local merchants (restaurants, services from massage therapists and salon owners, and more). We raised nearly $13,000 in a very short time, and this became the starting funds for Libby's Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation. Some of the first year bands included: Nora Ricci, John Gallagher's Orange Blossom Trails, Gaspard and the Grain, Melissa Crispo, as well as spoken word artists
